Late September 2020 Update

As many of you are aware, our president, Charlie Murray, has sold his house, and that he and Mary have moved back to Wisconsin.  For the remainder of this year, or until a general meeting can be held in 2021 to run an election, Tom Winegarden will be running the club along with the current board members.

Due to the new strict guidelines set by The Villages that does not allow live entertainment, we have cancelled October’s event, which was Petrina.  Also cancelled was November’s Trivia as well as December’s Holiday Party catered by Oakwood with entertainment by Suzie Casta.  We have several months in 2021 booked with entertainment, but we will wait to see if things change before we cancel those also.

Some of the other guidelines from The Villages that determined these cancellations are:

  1. Participation is only allowed at 50%, and masks must be worn at all times except for eating.
  2. Only tables of 4 people can be used.
  3. If a caterer is used, they must bring everything including utensils, and must take all garbage with them leaving nothing behind.
  4. The rec. center will NOT provide coffee or water as they have done in the past.

September 2020 Update

Socials on hold for now

Unfortunately, the September 2020 social is cancelled. The Recreation Department is still requiring social distancing at the rec centers to the extent that we cannot fit enough people in our room to have a social. Also, the Recreation Department has not decided when social distancing protocols will be lifted. So, we’re on hold as a club until the protocols are lifted. The Board doesn’t hold much hope of that happening this year.

Goodbye Charlie and Mary Murray

At the end of last month, Charlie and Mary Murray closed on their house in The Villages. They’re headed for Wisconsin to a new home near their children. We will all miss them.

Charlie’s departure means that our Vice President, Tom Winegarden is now acting president until he can be confirmed at our next meeting…whenever that will be.

What the future may hold

If there are no more meetings until 2021, the Board members’ terms will be expired as we will not have had elections. We are considering may things including continuing the Board through the second month after we’re able to meet again and having elections on the first month we’re able to meet…among other things.

Seating: There will be 8 people per table. Seats will be assigned when tickets ordered. If you wish to sit together as a group, please order your tickets at the same time and have everyone’s name and email address.

Fifty-Fifty raffle will be held. Please, no large bills!
