September 2020 Update

Socials on hold for now

Unfortunately, the September 2020 social is cancelled. The Recreation Department is still requiring social distancing at the rec centers to the extent that we cannot fit enough people in our room to have a social. Also, the Recreation Department has not decided when social distancing protocols will be lifted. So, we’re on hold as a club until the protocols are lifted. The Board doesn’t hold much hope of that happening this year.

Goodbye Charlie and Mary Murray

At the end of last month, Charlie and Mary Murray closed on their house in The Villages. They’re headed for Wisconsin to a new home near their children. We will all miss them.

Charlie’s departure means that our Vice President, Tom Winegarden is now acting president until he can be confirmed at our next meeting…whenever that will be.

What the future may hold

If there are no more meetings until 2021, the Board members’ terms will be expired as we will not have had elections. We are considering may things including continuing the Board through the second month after we’re able to meet again and having elections on the first month we’re able to meet…among other things.

Seating: There will be 8 people per table. Seats will be assigned when tickets ordered. If you wish to sit together as a group, please order your tickets at the same time and have everyone’s name and email address.

Food: BYOB & snacks to share with your table. Club will provide decaf coffee & water.

Admission: $1.00 per member, $2.00 per guest accompanied by a member. See guest policy here.

Gaming: There will be approximately 6 races which includes the Daily Double. In each race you may place bets on one or more horses. Each bet is 1 Horse Buck. You may place bets on as many horses as you want and may place more than one bet per horse. The Daily Double is 2 Horse Bucks per bet. You will bet on one horse to win in the first race and one horse to win in the second race. If both horses win their respective races, you win. Please bring $1 bills to purchase your Horse Bucks which are $1 each. Please leave your large denomination bills at home.
