September 2020 Update

Socials on hold for now

Unfortunately, the September 2020 social is cancelled. The Recreation Department is still requiring social distancing at the rec centers to the extent that we cannot fit enough people in our room to have a social. Also, the Recreation Department has not decided when social distancing protocols will be lifted. So, we’re on hold as a club until the protocols are lifted. The Board doesn’t hold much hope of that happening this year.

Goodbye Charlie and Mary Murray

At the end of last month, Charlie and Mary Murray closed on their house in The Villages. They’re headed for Wisconsin to a new home near their children. We will all miss them.

Charlie’s departure means that our Vice President, Tom Winegarden is now acting president until he can be confirmed at our next meeting…whenever that will be.

What the future may hold

If there are no more meetings until 2021, the Board members’ terms will be expired as we will not have had elections. We are considering may things including continuing the Board through the second month after we’re able to meet again and having elections on the first month we’re able to meet…among other things.

Gina Buell, the owner of City Fire Restaurants in The Villages, has graciously offered members of the Belvedere Social Club a 20% discount on dine in and take out orders through October 1, 2020

April 2020 Social Cancelled

Due to the restrictions in place required by the COVID-19 virus outbreak, we regretfully announce that the April 2020 social scheduled for April 9, 2020 at Laurel Manor is cancelled.

Your board wants to respect the “social distancing” policies in place and does not want to put our members at risk to contract the coronavirus due to any activities we may have.

We eagerly look forward to our May social featuring ventriloquist Mike Palma scheduled for May 14 at Laurel Manor.

Please join us in our prayers and hopes that this outbreak will pass quickly with the minimum number of victims possible.
